Bullies in the Mist

As is the annual custom, swathes of students and seasoned vagrants trudged up a frosty Sussex hill last Friday to welcome a new academic year. Unfortunately instead of 'sexydance' or 'gashtastic' the dirty word on everyone's lips was 'bully'. That's right, someone allowed a bully to attend the festivities. Reports of torn flesh tunnels and kicked faces infected peoples good moods from almost as early as the fun had begun. A young fresher in attendance who claims to have seen the party poopers said that they were 3 in all, 2 white 1 black, and that they were systematically targeting people by shining torches in their faces, blinding them from the robbing and kicking they may have been receiving. The organizers advised that people urinate in the sociable fashion and not stray too far from the crowd.

It was for the most part snatch and grab with fairly little foot and fist involved, but neither were necessary. It is unfortunate that a couple of unsavories can turn the mood so sinister. There have been incidents of party consensus getting the better of the bad guys, every able bodied man picking up a stick and driving out the problem. Even one man vigilante action has taken place before. A real life action hero; reports are limited to one but it sounds like a mighty fine effort; one man with martial arts training, war paint and the ballsiest sense of justice this side of fiction. I hear he ended the skirmish pouring blood out of his own shoes "literally too much blood" i heard, perhaps we all need a bit of that man in us. He got hurt which is rubbish news as he was protecting the masses.

Luckily this time the problem disappeared with the rising sun and a banging set commenced of beautiful people dancing to beautiful music. For all its night time haunts the free alternative to Freshers Ball went bang bam boom and remains a Brighton institution.
